  • Description:

    Assists qualified individuals with a one-time down payment to buy a clean air vehicle like electric, plug-in hybrid, and fuel cell vehicle.

    Down payment grant is paid directly to the dealership and do not need to be repaid.

    Qualified individuals may be eligible for a fair financing loan up to $45,000 at an interest rate of 8% or less for clean air vehicles from CHDC's lender network.

    Grant Award towards Down Payment:

    • $7,500 New/Used Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV)/Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV)
    • $7,000 New/Used Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV)

    Plus, get an extra $2,000 towards a level 2 home charger installation or charging gift card.

    Program Delivery

    • Eligibility: Must meet program guideline: *Must be 18 years or older. *Must be a California resident (applicant with AB60 and ITIN qualify). *Must apply before purchasing/leasing a vehicle (incentive is not retroactive). *Must not have participated in any CARB light-duty vehicle purchase incentive program (e.g., Clean Vehicle Rebate Project (CVRP), Clean Vehicle Assistance Program (CVAP), regional Driving Clean Assistance Program (DCAP), Clean Cars 4 All (CC4A). *Must have a household income ≤ 300% of the Federal Poverty Level (updated annually): Household Size / Combined Income Must Be Less Than 1 / $45,180 2 / $61,320 3 / $77,460 4 / $93,600 5 / $109,740 6 / $125,880 7 / $142,020 8 / $158,160 Participants can only receive one (1) assistance per household for the lifetime of the program.
