Victim Witness Program

  • Description: Provides a variety of services for crime victims and witnesses to make their experience with the criminal justice system less traumatic and easier to understand.

    Services include:
    • Information and Referral: Provide information about the criminal justice process and victim rights and referrals to other programs and resources.
    • Personal Advocacy and Accompaniment: Victim advocacy and accompaniment to emergency medical care and medical forensic exams, law enforcement interview advocacy and accompaniment, individual advocacy, intervention with employer, creditor, landlord, or academic institution, child or dependent care assistance, transportation assistance, and interpreter services
    • Emotional Support and Safety Services: Crisis intervention (in-person, includes safety planning, etc.), referrals to hotline and crisis line counseling, individual counseling, support groups, other therapy, and financial assistance.
    • Shelter and Housing Services: Assistance in finding emergency sehtler or safe house, transitional housing, and relocation.
    • Criminal or Civil Justice System Assistance: Victim impact statement assistance, assistance with restitution, civil legal assistance in obtaining protection or restraining order, civil legal assistance with family law issues, immigration assistance, and other legal advice, and/or counsel.
