After School Mentor and Tutoring Program

Agency: GIVE EVERY CHILD A CHANCE

  • Description: Provides after school tutoring and activity programs.

    Programs such as:
    • After School Advantage Program (ASAP): Provide a safe, structured, educational and fun after school program to students in elementary school where the program is conducted. Three components (can vary in length and sites): Homework Academic Support, Enrichment Activities, and Recreation/Physical Education
    • Tutoring Encourages Achievement, Coaching & Hardwork (TEACH): One-on-One mentor/tutoring to match student grades K-12 with a volunteer to assist students with homework and study skills.
    • Homework Assistance Program (HAP): Allows students to bring in their class assignments and work independently with help from a HAP instructor. Graduates of One-on-One can continue through HAP.
    • Reading Assistance Program (RAP): Based on the sensory Orton-Gillingham method to systematically teaches reading, spelling, phonics, fluency, grammar, vocabulary and reading comprehension. Uses the four pathway: auditory, kinesthetic, visual, and speech to provide multiple instructional practices to be successful.
    • Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEAM): Provides a fun learing environment for students to learn how to design, engineer and program projects with teamwork, communication and creative thinking. 
    • Summer Drop In Program: Offers drop-in programs for studnets during summer. Provides worksheets and educational games.
