  • Description: Represents people in extreme poverty in the defense of criminal cases. The court appoints the Public Defender to represent these clients in adult criminal and juvenile criminal cases, child dependency, mental health matters, and civil cases (lawsuits).

    Lawyer Referral Services is contracted to handle cases when there is a conflict of interest and where the Public Defender's Office is understaffed.
