    Assist individuals representing themselves in Family Law and limited Probate matters, with staff reviewing paperwork for those who attended a workshop or were given sample forms. Pro Per Clinic does not represent clients or provide legal advice and is available to both parties.

    Pro Per Clinic assists with the following issues:

    • Workshops: Dissolution; Legal Separation; Nullity; First Time Custody/Visitation; Trial Prep; Declaration of Disclosure
    • Sample Packets: Emancipation; Civil Name Change; Step-Parent Adoption; All Family Law; Small Claims; Unlawful Detainer
    • Review Only: Elder Abuse; Civil Harassment; Domestic Violence

    New case, submit ticket through online workshop at www.sjcourts.org/form/pro-per-portal

  • Hours: Mon: 8am - 3:30pm; Tue: 8am - 3:30pm; Wed: 8am - 11 am; Thu: 8am - 3:30pm; Fri: 8am - 3:30pm; - (Workshop Classes: -First time custody/visitation: Wed 8am-11am -Dissolution, legal separation, or nullity: Tue 8am -Document Review: Mon/Tue/Thu/Fri 8am-3:30pm; Wed 8am-11am Office closed on New Year's Day, Martin Luther King's Birthday, Lincoln's Birthday, President's Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Native American Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day and the day after, and Christmas Day.)

    Program Delivery

    • Eligibility: Open to all. Children are not allowed in clinic or workshops.
    • Languages: English and Spanish
    • Application Process: Walk-in for Pro Per Clinic. Sign in upon arrival; space is limited. Clinic is on a first-come, first-served basis.
    • Program Fees: No fees
    • Required Documents: A pen or pencil to write with, any paperwork served, any court documents from other counties or states relating to the case. Sample packet to attend a document review: Emancipation, Subpoena, Civil Name Change, Step-Parent Adoption, Contempt All Family Law, Limited Civil Small Claims, Unlawful Detainer.
