Family Programs

Agency: NATIONAL ALLIANCE ON MENTAL HEALTH OF SAN JOAQUN COUNTY (NAMI)

  • Description: Provides resource for families who have loved ones living with severe mental illness.

    Services include: 
    • Family Support Group - free drop-in basis meeting providing mutual support by trained facilitator who are family members.
       
    • Family-To-Family - a 8-week series of class for families, friends, and caregivers of persons with mental illnesses.  Class provides opportunity to learn, self-care, and bond with others dealing with the same issues.  Class is taught by family members.  Courses are held periodically.  Office maintain a waiting list.  This service is also taught in Spanish.
       
    • NAMI Basics - a free 6-session program for parents and caregivers of children and adolescent with mental health to understand the illnesses that are causing those behaviors and role families play in the treatment process. Trained volunteer teachers are parents of individuals who experienced symptoms as children.
