Court Appointed Special Advocates

Agency: CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION COUNCIL OF SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY

  • Description:

Recruits and trains volunteers to "act as a voice in court" for children.

CASA volunteers ensure that abused, neglected, and abandoned children under the San Joaquin County Court's care have a safe and permanent home.

Volunteers commit to at least 18 months to resolve the child's permanent placement, providing continuity by staying on the case until resolution. They maintain weekly contact with their CASA child, attend court hearings as needed, and submit written reports to the court, detailing interviews, visits, and assessments to recommend safe permanent placements.
