    Provides geologic and seismic expertise to the public, state government offices such as the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (OES), and local city and county government agencies. 

    Studies earthquakes to help Californians plan and build earthquake-resistant communities, records strong ground motion from earthquakes, analyzes the distribution of historic earthquakes, and evaluates faults that are sources of earthquakes.
